NEWSLETTER TITLE: A MASTERSTROKE FOR DODGING META’S LEVY, GMAIL GAME-CHANGER POSTPONED, AND HOW TO NAIL YOUR POST-PURCHASE TACTICS.
THIS WEEK
👉 Welcome back to Edition 3 of the NordMedia newsletter—your weekly growth marketing reality check. Let’s cut to the chase.
💰 DODGE THE 30% BOOSTED POST LEVY
Apple’s latest move has the potential to flip your ad budget on its head.
They're slapping a whopping 30% service charge on Meta's Boosted Posts right when you purchase them in-app.
Just like that—a third of your spend is spent before your ad even sees the light of day.
But who is really bearing the brunt of this?
It's the small businesses.
The ones to whom every cent matters.
For them, Boosted Posts aren't just a fancy option—they’re a lifeline.
A means of reaching audiences without setting down serious cash for full-blown campaigns.
So, they're caught between a rock and a hard place, right?
Wrong.
Meta's not about to leave you hanging. They've got a workaround, and it's as plain as day.
No, they're not absorbing the cost.
And Boosted Posts aren't going anywhere either.
But they've put forth a simple, practical solution: Go old school.
Instead of purchasing Boosted Posts in-app, use your desktop.
Yep, it’s that simple.
Head to Instagram.com or Facebook.com and boost your posts from there.
The in-app process might've been a breeze, but avoiding a 30% fee? That's a windfall.
Take the detour. It's worth it.
📅 GOOGLE’S EMAIL AUTHENTICATION POSTPONED
So, you've been waiting.
Preparing and anticipating for Google's new email authentication policy.
Well, here's the latest update.
Instead of February 2024, Gmail's email authentication is now set to roll out in June 2024.
Why the delay, you ask?
It seems Google and Yahoo are still fine-tuning their spam fighting armor.
And what does this mean for you?
More time. Time to breathe, to prepare, to ensure your mail server's DNS records are squeaky clean and ready for the SPF, DKIM, and DMARC authentication checks.
But don't get too comfortable.
Every delay could mean stricter rules and a tighter framework for email senders. So, brace yourself.
And remember, every subscriber not getting your emails equates to lost potential customers.
Enjoy the respite, but don't lose sight of the impending change. Keep your plans in place and your strategies tight. June is right around the corner.
👉 Cold, hard fact: The sale is not the finish line.
It’s just a checkpoint.
Post-Q4, the real game begins.
And brands? Brands often get so wrapped up in top-of-funnel strategies and new customer acquisition that they overlook what comes next: product adoption, customer satisfaction, groundwork for repeat purchases.
So, here's my no-nonsense guide to a winning post-purchase strategy:
Tailor Product-Specific Emails: It's 2024; personalization is not optional. It's the norm. Each customer's journey should be unique. So, send emails that resonate with their specific purchase.
Beyond the Purchase Confirmation: Your 'Thank You' email should be more than a receipt. It’s an opportunity. An opportunity to start building a relationship. Show your customers they’re valued, not just another sale.
Encourage Immediate Product Adoption: Don’t just sell; educate. Provide how-tos, FAQs, and tips to ensure they not only use your product but love it. This is crucial, especially for products with a learning curve.
Time Your Review Requests Smartly: Use tools like Yotpo Reviews. Request feedback after they’ve had time to experience your product. Genuine, timely reviews can boost your credibility and inform future customers.
Dynamic Cross-Selling: Use dynamic feeds to recommend complementary products. This isn’t just upselling; it’s enhancing their experience with your brand.
Focus on Lifetime Value: Introduce loyalty rewards and ongoing benefits. Remind them why sticking with your brand is a long-term win.
Clear Returns Policy: Post-holiday returns are inevitable. Make it painless. Clear instructions and easy access to your returns policy can turn a potentially negative experience into a positive one.
Your post-purchase strategy is what separates a one-time buyer from a lifelong customer.
A lousy post-purchase experience?
Say goodbye to repeat sales.
It's brutal but true.
The post-purchase journey is crucial for customer retention.
It's your opportunity to shine and show your customers they've made the right choice.
End of story.
✍️ COPYWRITING TIP OF THE WEEK
👉 Your copy isn't just text.
It’s a rhythmic ensemble meant to move people, to stir emotions and to spark action.
And like in music, rhythm is key.
How rhythmic is your copy?
Let's dive in.
First, varied sentence lengths.
Your copy isn't a monotonous drumbeat. It’s a lively melody with highs and lows. Mix short, punchy sentences with longer, flowing ones. This keeps your readers engaged and connected.
Next, alliteration.
Remember those catchy jingles that stick in your head for days on end? That's the power of alliteration. It builds rhythm, and rhythm builds memorability.
Use it. Sparingly, but effectively.
Finally, the trio of elements.
Three is a magic number in copywriting. It provides rhythm, reinforces concepts, and delivers impact.
Quality. Value. Satisfaction.
See what I did there?
Rhythm isn't just about sound. It's about structure.
About pacing.
And ultimately, about how your words feel.
Remember, rhythm builds memory.
And memory is what turns a first-time visitor into a loyal customer.
So, next time you’re crafting your copy, ask yourself:
Does it have the beat?
