Meta Changed the Format System. Again.
Here's what to check before it happens a third time.

Meta announced on March 11th that it's deprecating its current format selection system - Flexible, Single image, Carousel, Collection - and replacing it with a new architecture called "Format display options" using "Uploaded Media."
This is the third consecutive format-level overhaul in 18 months:
Dynamic Creative → Flexible Ads (June 2024)
Flexible Ads → Format display options (March 2026)
Each transition follows the same structure. Meta hands more format decisions to the algorithm, reduces advertiser control, and quietly breaks the reporting infrastructure that told you what was working inside the old format.
Operators who weren't paying attention in June 2024 are still making creative decisions based on broken data.
The same thing is about to happen again.
The subscription economy for physical products is exploding.
With brands like AG1, ON, and BMW offering subscription programs for their customers, all DTC brands can follow the momentum and turn transactions into relationships.
Juo is a subscription platform providing a toolkit that enables brands to build, launch, and scale a subscription layer on top of their physical products.
What Broke Last Time (And Still Isn't Fixed)
When Meta replaced Dynamic Creative with Flex Ads in June 2024, the "Breakdown by Dynamic Creative Element" report stopped working reliably.
That report showed which specific image or video drove conversions within a multi-asset ad.
Operators running Flex Ads as winner consolidation containers - loading top-performing creatives into a single ad - have had no reliable way to see asset-level performance since mid-2024.
You know which containers are winning, but you don't know which creatives inside them are causing the win.
If the Flex Ads reporting gap never made it onto your radar, you've been making creative kill and refresh decisions with incomplete data for nine months.
The Diagnostic to Run This Week
Before the next transition hits, get up to date on the last one.
Pull the Dynamic Creative Element breakdown on your top Flex Ads.
If asset-level data is incomplete or missing per asset, you have a reporting gap that predates this announcement.
The solution: run a parallel single-asset ad for the top suspected performers at a small budget for about a week.
The difference in performance between the single-asset test ad vs inside the Flex container tells you whether the assets you think are working are causing the win, or just getting delivery inside a winning container.
The Bigger Pattern
Every time Meta simplifies the interface, it's because the algorithm is taking over a decision the operator used to make manually.
Flex Ads removed format control.
Advantage+ removed audience control.
Format display options will remove the remaining structural decisions.
Each simplification is real - the algorithm often does make better format decisions than a human.
But simplification and visibility are different things.
Every step toward automation has come with a corresponding reduction in the reporting tools that let you audit what the algorithm is doing.
You need to build your own signal systems instead of waiting for Meta to provide them.
Final Thoughts
Meta just announced another format overhaul. Your setup will need updating - that's expected.
But adapting to the new system isn't enough.
Every format shift requires two things: updating your setup for what's coming and auditing your data to see what broke last time.
Skipping the second step means making decisions on information you don't even know is incomplete.
Run the diagnostic.
Fix the gaps from the Flex Ads update before the next transition lands.
